The legendary collective of photographers known as Magnum Photos has started a group blog. Alec Soth mentioned that he had suggested a blog to the organization and it seems they agreed. A few photographers have made their first post including Martin Parr and Jonas Bendiksen.

I recently ran across Tim’s work in the April Group-Show exhibition. As I was looking through Tim’s site I noticed a project entitled “Boonville, USA.” The title caught my attention because I grew up near a town in Missouri named Boonville. Tim is in the pre-production phase of the project which will take him to 6 towns across the nation all named Boonville.

the idea is to explore life in small town America by not only capturing individual stories but by exploring each town as a whole.

According to Tim’s blog, he will spend close to one month in each town. What a Dream! Tim recently received a grant from Cannery Works for the project. Dreams come true! Here is a chance to watch a great idea develop. Tim makes regular updates about the project on his blog “HaveYouSeenMyDynamite.”

If you have not seen Brian Ulrich’s project entitled Copia, then you must click here. Brian, a resident of Chicago, has been shooting our consumer-dominated culture by visiting malls and thrift stores. Aperture just published MP3, a three volume set which includes Brian’s project Copia. Brian also runs a great blog entitled NOTIFBUTWHEN.

Joerg Colberg and Alec Soth…on Photo Blogs

Here is an interesting conversation between Joerg Colberg and Alec Soth on photo blogging. I have been following Joerg’s blog, Conscientious, for a few years now. Conscientious is definitely the most comprehensive photo blog out there. The last several months contain some of Joerg’s best post in my opinion. It feels that Joerg has tapped some fresh enthusiasm for Conscientious. Perhaps his hard work is beginning to pay off. Below you will find a list of photographers interviewed and posted by Joerg.

Art Book Fair

Last week I spent an afternoon at the New York Art Book Fair hosted by Printed Matter. It was a pleasure to thumb through many of the books. The best part of the afternoon was talking with Jason Fulford at J&L Press. I am a big fan of both Jason as a photographer and a publisher. I saw Jason’s first show titled 107 in Kansas City in 2000. J&L has two new books coming out by photographers Darin Mickey and Ed Panar. Darin Mickey is a Kansas City native and his project titled “STUFF I GOTTA REMEMBER NOT TO FORGET” was shot in KC. The book looks great and if you like the work enough you can buy a special edition print here.
